On the subject of Pink Floyd and their investments Nick Mason is doing OK. In 1977 he spent £35,000 of his royalties on a 1962 Ferrari 250GTO which I imagine would have been considered insane by most people at that time. He still owns it and it is now worth over £30m.
I saw one of those poorly attended Radio KAOS shows in ‘87 and it did show that the auteur theory didn’t put butts in seats. But for later tours, Roger Waters has built up his name recognition enormously, mostly by performing The Wall in arenas and putting his own name in that scrawly Pink Floyd font.
